Week 28: The Fault in Our Stars

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I am so glad I didn’t wimp out on this book. Terminal cancer is a hard subject, but considering that the main characters are all teenagers, and the target audience is also teens, I’m wondering why I LOVED this book. I wonder how popular this book really is with that audience. The characters were smart, funny, and quite philosophical about life, cancer, love, parents and the inevitability of dying. What an insightful book written from the point of view of a 16 year old girl with terminal cancer. Eye and heart opening, I felt fairly sure that by the time I got to the end of the book, I would be ugly crying. I even thought about turning it off as I drove to a luncheon because I was afraid to show up with mascara on my chin. I kept listening and honestly, I reacted completely differently than I thought I would. I absolutely loved this book, these quirky teenaged characters and my new insight. Highly recommended, and highly recommend you read it NOW before the movie comes out!
