Tweets to Poetry

NPR story, source image AP

NPR recently did a story on a programmer who likes poetry and developed a program, Pentametron,  that finds iambic pentameter in tweets. His program sorts through 525 million tweets per day, then pairs rhyming lines of iambic pentameter. Some are quite amusing and make you wonder about the tweeter. Some just make a bit of sense. And some are completely random. The following is from 4 separate, unrelated tweets and tweeters.

” That hesitation right before a kiss

I don’t remember ever learning this

I’ve never had a valentine before

I’m not a little baby anymore”

You can follow these tweets @pentametron. I find this idea fascinating! What do you think? Would you follow the Pentametron tweets?
